Characteristics of a good soup pot

The Right Material

For especially high-quality cookware , the choice of material has to be right. When making pots, Fissler mainly uses

  • high-quality stainless steel
  • as well as aluminium (for the disc in the base of the pot)

Almost all Fissler pots are made in Germany. This also applies to stockpots.

Stainless steel stockpots are dimensionally stable and resistant to heat, alkalis, acids, and corrosion. Stainless steel is also considered food-safe and is easy to clean.

The Right Shape

To keep soup from boiling over or splashing while cooking, stockpots should have ahigh rim. Depending on diameter and height, the capacity of the pot varies, so different portion sizes can fit in the pot.

Some Fissler pots are therefore especially tall-walled. Depending on the diameter, there is room for more or less soup.

Cool-Touch Handles

Above all, a full stainless steel stockpot is relatively heavy. For more safety and comfortable carrying, stockpots should have sturdy handles that do not absorb the heat of the pot too quickly.
Fissler stockpots feature Stay-Cool metal handles (Original-Profi Collection®) or stainless steel handles (Fissler Pure Collection):

  • Stay-Cool Metal Handles stay at a comfortable handle temperature on a standard household stove (<50 °C). They are solidly made and also have a heat-insulating transition between the pot body and the handle plate.
  • Stainless Steel Handles have poor thermal conductivity, which works in your favor while cooking. The more solid the construction, the greater the positive effect on handle temperature.

Tightly Fitting Lid

A solid, tightly fitting lid makes energy-efficient cooking possible. Because the condensation heat that forms can escape only minimally with a tightly fitting lid, the boiling point is reached much faster.

Fissler stockpots are equipped with a metal lid (Original-Profi Collection®) or a high-quality glass lid (Viseo®):

  • Metal lids are made of high-quality stainless steel. They are easy to clean and can be used in the oven at up to 230 °C.
  • Lids made of high-quality glass are impact-resistant and unaffected by slow thermal changes up to 180 °C. Thanks to the high-quality stainless steel rim with an integrated silicone seal, water trapped inside or stress in the glass when heating is prevented. The lid closes perfectly and allows comfortable visible cooking without loss of flavour or energy.

Induction-Ready Base

To use the stockpot on an induction hob as well, it is important that it has a base suitable for this purpose.

  • The Fissler CookStar® base (Original-Profi Collection®) is suitable for all types of cooktops and optimised for induction. It is extra thick and solid, which gives it optimal heat absorption, distribution, and retention. Thanks to the heat retention of the base, the energy supply can be reduced before the end of the cooking time. This makes stockpots with a CookStar® base especially energy efficient. The integrated star-shaped expansion joints in the CookStar® base offer another advantage. The joints provide exceptional base stability, so the pots always sit flat on the hob when heated, and the ingredients are cooked evenly.
  • The Superthermic® base (Fissler Pure Collection) is suitable for all hob types including induction. It offers rapid absorption, distribution and retention of heat across the entire base. This means energy is used very efficiently.

Measurement scale and pouring rim

The soup pots from Fissler feature practical details:

  • With the help of the laser-etched measurement scale on the inside of the soup pot, you can measure liquids without needing a measuring jug
  • The extra wide (Original-Profi Collection®) or wide pouring rim (Fissler Pure Collection®) allows easy and precise pouring of soups - without drips or spills
